Senate District 05
Lt. Governor McNally: (R) Lieutenant Governor and Speaker of the Senate. Lt. Gov. McNally has a good vote score. Vote scores are generally good in the senate, as a whole, because they avoid voting on bills that really matter by sending those controversial or difficult pieces of legislation to the dust-bins of summer study, re-referred back to a committee, or defer them to the next session. Seven of our preferred bills were derailed at the last stage, after passing in the house and making it through committee(s) in the senate. This is unacceptable. If McNally is the leader of the senate, he must be at least partly responsible. The responsibility of the members of the GA is to the ordinary people of Tennessee, not the Chamber of Commerce or the big corporations that hire lobbyists and make big campaign donations. Their responsibility is to preserve the liberties granted to us by our founding fathers, not to preserve their positions of power or enhance their fortunes. The deep state wins if we back down from their threats of lawsuits every time we attempt to establish our God-granted rights. Tennessee could lead the nation in re-establishing those rights and principles, if our elected leaders only have the courage. The people do! .
