Rep. Clay Doggett (R) is a new member this session, coming in 2019. He serves as Vice-Chair, House Commerce Committee, Member: Business Subcommittee, Judiciary, and Criminal Justice Subcommittee.

With a strong 96% vote score and only one errant vote, we count Chairman Doggett among our constitutional conservative champions.

Doggett was an effective chairman of the very important Criminal Justice Subcommittee. He co-sponsored an impressive eleven of TLRC chosen bills. He was one of a very few who courageously voted for Chairman Bruce Griffey’s E-Verify bill.

Chairman Doggett’s only demerit was his vote for HB141, a bill that gives the film and video industry tax exemptions. We discourage favoritism disguised as economic development. How is the state government justified in picking winners and losers with the discriminate doling of tax-payer money?

We are extremely pleased with Clay Doggett and support his re-election in 2022 and beyond.
