TLRC statement

HB 653 would require healthcare facilities and long-term care facilities to permit in-person visitation of a patient or resident by family members and community pastoral care members, allowing the facilities to place limitations on the frequency and duration of visitation in certain areas and to require the visitors to comply with safety protocols.

This bill if passed keeps our loved ones in hospitals and long-term care facilities with the benefit of a family member or clergy who could advocate for them. This allows for people who, in many cases, may be incapacitated to have a loved one there to make decisions for them and look out for their best interests and personal healthcare choices.
