TLRC statement

This bill adds the word “sex” as a defined term for statutory construction purposes. It will help to interpret the meaning of the word “sex” throughout the present law. Except in statutes where the context otherwise requires, this bill defines “sex” as a person’s immutable biological sex as determined by anatomy and genetics existing at the time of birth and evidence of a person’s biological sex.

For purposes of this definition, “evidence of a person’s biological sex includes, but is not limited to, a government-issued identification document that accurately reflects a person’s sex listed on the person’s original birth certificate."
