TLRC Statement on Bill

HJR 045 if passed is a Constitutional Amendment that will establish a term limit of 16 years for all state and local public officials, except for the governor, for whom a term limit is established of 8 years.

Everyone knows that DC is a swamp, but it doesn’t have to be that way in Tennessee. We want accountability back in our state government. Term limits will limit the power of the incumbency during election cycles and also break ties with special interests and the influence of lobbyists over public policy.
